Enrollment and Attendance FAQs

LSOA offers enrollment for students in grades K-7 who meet the following criteria:

• All students must reside in Texas.
• Students entering Kindergarten must have reached their 5th birthday on or before September 1st of the current school year.
• Students entering 1st grade must have reached their 6th birthday on or before September 1st of the current school year. 

Because LSOA provides the lesson plans and materials needed for grades K–7, many parents find it easy to enroll multiple students in the program.

LSOA is a public school, so there is no tuition. We provide Texas-certified teachers and instructional materials. Students and families will be responsible for providing some common household materials (such as printer ink and paper). Our enrollment consultants can help address your technological and computer questions and needs.

As Texas public school students, all students enrolled in LSOA must comply with the state-required minimum number of 180 instructional days. Students are expected to be in school with LSOA Monday through Friday, at least 4–6 hours a day each day. Each week day, students must log into school and complete their assignments.

The school calendar includes school holidays or vacation time. Whenever possible, family vacations should align with school vacation days. Parents are encouraged to contact their student’s teacher if they plan a vacation that does not coordinate with the school calendar. Per TEC 25.092, students are required to attend at least 90 percent of their classes to receive credit and be promoted.
