Title IX

Lone Star Online Academy (LSOA) does not discriminate on the basis of a protected class including but not limited to race, color, national origin, sex, age, religion, or disability in the programs or activities which it operates or the employment therein or admission thereto. LSOA strictly adheres to all non-discrimination and anti-harassment laws and does not tolerate acts of harassment. 

LSOA is committed to providing a safe environment in which students can learn. LSOA shall maintain a nondiscriminatory environment protecting students from discrimination and harassment. LSOA encourages students, parents, and staff to work together to prevent acts of harassment of any kind including bullying.

Harassment of students and staff members is prohibited at all academic, extra-curricular, and school sponsored activities. LSOA prohibits harassment in the school environment, whether or not the harassment initially occurred off school grounds or outside the LSOA’s education programs or activities. The school environment includes school facilities, class connect sessions, and school-sponsored activities (such as extracurricular events or field trips).

LSOA complies with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (“Title IX”), 20 U.S.C. §1681 et seq., which is a Federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in education programs and activities. All public and private elementary and secondary schools, school districts, colleges, and universities (hereinafter “schools”) receiving any Federal funds must comply with Title IX. Under Title IX, discrimination on the basis of sex can include sexual harassment or sexual violence, such as rape, sexual assault, sexual battery, and sexual coercion.

This policy also prohibits discrimination as defined by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
