3rd Grade Student Receives Recognition for Math Achievement

Haripriya P., a third-grade student at LSOA, has achieved something extraordinary. She’s been named a 2024 National Math Star, earning her a spot among 61 talented students across Texas selected for this prestigious program. Over the next decade, Haripriya will receive $100,000 worth of resources and support aimed at nurturing her mathematical talent and preparing her for a bright future in STEM fields.

National Math Stars is a highly competitive initiative designed to cultivate the next generation of mathematicians, scientists, and engineers. With over 1,300 applications submitted statewide — from students in virtual, traditional, charter, private, and homeschool settings — Haripriya’s exceptional abilities stood out. She scored above the 99th percentile on both the quantitative and nonverbal sections of the Cognitive Abilities Test, securing her place in the program.

Haripriya now joins a diverse group of students aged 6 to 10 from 27 Texas school districts. As a National Math Star, she will have access to:

  • Advanced coursework
  • Mentorship from professional mathematicians
  • STEM-focused summer camps
  • Family advising and community events
  • Financial support for STEM-related extracurricular activities
