Online education is often seen as a game-changer for families seeking personalized and flexible learning experiences. For Autumn Park and her daughter Hope, enrolling in Lone Star Online Academy at Roscoe (LSOA) wasn’t just an educational choice — it was a solution that brought much-needed flexibility and a supportive learning environment to their lives.

“I always wanted to provide my children with an at-home education, but financial pressures and the demands of working three jobs made it impossible with my older kids who are now in their 20s,” Autumn explains.  “But after Hope was born, my chronic back pain worsened so I decided to stop working and focus on supporting Hope’s online learning, which began with LSOA in kindergarten. A year later, Hope is thriving.”

For Autumn, having the chance to raise and educate her child in a way that aligns with her values and vision for Hope’s future is a blessing. Virtual education provides an opportunity to be present for her daughter in ways that a traditional school setting couldn’t provide.

Flexibility to Thrive

At 7 years old, Hope struggles with sleep disturbances, making a traditional school schedule difficult to maintain. There are nights when she goes to bed at 8:30 p.m., only to wake up just a few hours later. Early morning school start times would have been a daily challenge for her.

This is where online learning with K12 has made a profound difference. When Hope has a rough night, she can rest in the morning without the pressure of rushing to start her school day. This schedule allows her to learn at her own pace without battling exhaustion.

LSOA has been invaluable to Autumn for the flexibility it provides the entire family. As a result, Autumn can occasionally assist her adult children with their own kids during the day, providing support in ways that would have been difficult if she were working outside the home. This interconnected support system enables Autumn to prioritize her well-being while ensuring Hope receives the education that best fits her needs — all from the comfort of their home.
